Happy Groundhog Day, everybody! If you aren’t familiar with the history of it,
Groundhog Day originated in Pennsylvania in the 18th and 19th centuries. It’s based on ancient European traditions that used animals to predict the weather. The first Groundhog Day celebration was held on February 2, 1887 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, credited to Clymer Freas, a newspaper editor in the city. Freas convinced a local group of groundhog hunters to search for Punxsutawney Phil at Gobbler’s Knob. The rest is history. It’s a fun, but not exactly reliable, “prediction holiday.”

Let’s move to Mark, Chapter 2… Take a closer look at verses 24 & 27-28… “The Pharisees said to him, ‘Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?’ … Then Jesus said to them, ‘The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.’”
