A very Happy Wednesday, AND… National Flip Flop Day! It’s not exactly flip flip weather hear in Central Illinois right now, BUT… Each year on the Wednesday after Memorial Day, this is a day where we are encouraged to wear our favorite flip flops and show them off!

These thong style sandals are by no means new to footwear. They’ve been around for thousands of years. However, the term “flip flop” has applied to flat-soled sandals with straps between the first and second toes and across the top of the foot since the 1960s. The term also describes someone who changes their mind a lot (kind of ironic that we will be discussing politicians after while).

It’s Ecclesiastes, Chapter 8 today… look closer at the 1st verse…

“Who is like the wise person, and who knows the interpretation of a matter? A man’s wisdom brightens his face, and the sternness of his face is changed.”

  1. I do not see myself as a particularly wise person, and certainly “wise” is used in the context of half a word; but some of my greatest pleasures in teaching students or training new
    new employees was to see signs of understanding complex academic thoughts or see satisfaction when a skill I taught was completed correctly. What joy Jesus must feel when we “get it”!

  2. I see faces like this when I substitute teach in the grade schools all of the time. The students really show their knowledge and frustrations on their faces
