Today is not only Teacher’s Appreciation today… It’s also National Nurses Day, always observed annually on May 6th. On this day, we raise awareness of all nurse contributions and commitments and acknowledge the vital role nurses play in society. 

National Nurses Week begins May 6th and ends on May 12th, which is the birthday of Florence Nightingale (May 12, 1820 – August 13, 1910).  Florence Nightingale was a celebrated English, social reformer, statistician, and the founder of modern nursing. She became well-known while taking care of the wounded soldiers during the Crimean War. Nightingale was dubbed “The Lady with the Lamp” because of her habit of making rounds at night.

All of us appreciate her legacy AND the one that every single nurse has paved after her.

Let’s dive into Mark, Chapter 2…Look at verses 9-11…

“‘Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, pick up your mat, and walk’? But so you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,’ He told the paralytic, ‘I tell you: get up, pick up your mat, and go home.’”

  1. I think your numbers might be off – I’m thinking you meant to say that she has 3.74 in her mind. 4.74 would definitely get her to state and then some!🤔

  2. Faith and Deeds is the divider between Vs. 13 & 14 in my NIV; and an Upper Room quote for yesterday is “But when our self-worth is based on what we do, and we establish our value apart from God, that’s when we run into problems” (p. 12). I know that I have done a lot of “churchy” things in my life, but I often wonder what kinds of Good I have done?
