One more late-edition and Happy Kentucky Derby Day! Yep, the first Saturday in May signals a big kick-off. Its long and storied history brings out a taste for mint juleps, a crazy amount of colorful sun hats and a thrill for the race.  The jockeys and horses will prepare for the day at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The first in the Triple Crown series, The Kentucky Derby will be followed by The Preakness Stakes and The Belmont Stakes. While both The Preakness and The Belmont are the older races, The Derby has run continuously since its inception in 1875.

It was a win for Sovereignty over Journalism at the 151st Kentucky Derby. Congrats to the win… place… and show horses on a rather muddy Churchill Downs racetrack.

Today’s big race is yet another of the many triggers that summer is just very much upon us. In another couple weeks, as more and more schools wrap up their year, I think we are safe to assume the temps are going to start rising to levels which will bring new complaints from us fickle humans.

It’s time for Titus, Chapter 2… take a good look at verse 1…

  1. Had to do that all the time: I used to teach Sociology at the university level. Challenging.

  2. When I find myself in such a situation, I pray and ask God to give me HIS words. If I don’t let him lead that conversation / situation, I may as well never even start it because I’ll just get in God’s way with my opinion.
    I always need to remember that God never beat anyone into submission with his words or actions and neither should I.
