Halfway through the very first KafePK Challenge! We have read three rounds of Mark, Ecclesiastes, and Titus already! Just three rounds to go, and for the next month we will be reading out of The Message translation. If you are new to this one, it’s a translation that is a paraphrase of the Bible in contemporary English, created by Eugene Peterson back in 1993. It makes the scriptures more accessible and relatable to modern readers. Consider it a culturally relevant version that makes you think on a different level. Mark, Chapter 1… Let’s unpack verses 7-8…

“As John the Baptist preached he said, ‘The real action comes next: The star (Jesus) in this drama, to whom I’m a mere stagehand, will change your life. I’m baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. His baptism—a holy baptism by the Holy Spirit—will change you from the inside out.’”
